DAY 1: WELCOME TO ICELAND - KEFLAVÍK - REYKJAVÍK
- Arrival to Keflavík International Airport (servicing Reykjavík).
- Direct bus transportation to Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland and check-in at your 3-4* hotel in the central area.
- Depending on your flight arrival time, you may choose to take a guided walking tour of Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland (if not, fear not, you will have the opportunity to do so on your last day).
DAY 2: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE: þINGVELLIR - GEYSIR - KERIÐ CRATER
- Buffet breakfast at the hotel.
- Get picked up from your hotel, meet your guide and fellow travelers as you start this complete exclusive holiday and set off for the Golden Circle.
- 1st Stop: Þingvellir National Park and location of the first Icelandic Parliament and the oldest, longest continually one in the world, operating since 930. See the divide of the tectonic plates between North America and Eurasia and earn a certificate to commemorate the momentous occasion.
- 2nd Stop: Geysir, the one which all others are named after, and its little brother Strokkur, which erupts in spectacular form about every 6-9 minutes. While witnessing this remarkable event, let’s toast Geysir and ourselves with a shot of Brennivin, the traditional Icelandic spirit.
- 3rd Stop: Gullfoss or the Golden Waterfall, one of the most famous and one of the largest in Iceland, due to the impressive drop of 32 meters.
- 4th Stop: Kerið, a volcanic crater. Special entrance to the crater is included. We’ll have time to walk around and down into the crater.
- Dinner and accommodation in Hveragerði, in a hotel with naturally heated thermal water, jacuzzi and sauna.
DAY 3: SOUTHERN COAST - WATERFALLS - BEACHES - PUFFINS
- Buffet breakfast at the hotel.
- 1st Stop: Hveragerði Museum to experience a simulation of the earthquake that shook the island in 2008, admission included.
- 2nd Stop: Volcanic show - see an interseting local documentary which helps you to imagine what it would feel like to experience a volcanic eruption on Iceland.
- 3rd Stop: Short stop by glacier and volcano Eyjafjallajökull which caused such chaos in Europe and the world in 2010.
- 4th Stop: Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, where you can walk behind the immense water curtain to the secret and hidden Gljúfrabúi Waterfall (unknown to many tourists, so it is called the "Secret waterfall").
- 5th Stop: Skógafoss Waterfall, measuring 60 meters tall and 25 meters wide. Breathtaking views from the top after scaling a steep staircase.
- 6th Stop: Dyrhólaey Beaches and cliffs which are populated by puffins in the summer months and displays a mighty stone arch rising out of the sea.
- 7th Stop: Vík, a charming town on the southern coast where you can walk on black beach voted as one of 10 most beautiful in the world. We will also have the chance to taste a local treat- special Icelandic ice cream in chocolate which is included in your trip :-)!
- Dinner and accommodation in the area surrounding the great Vatnajökull glacier in a 3* hotel.
DAY 4: SKAFTAFELL NATIONAL PARK - VATNAJOKULL GLACIER - JOKULSARLON LAGOON - EAST FJORDS
- Buffet breakfast at the hotel.
- 1st Stop: gaze upon the mighty Vatnajökull Glacier, it still leaves us in awe even after so many years.
- 2nd Stop: hike to Svartifoss Waterfall which gives you a spectacular view of black, basalt columns which form the cliff behind the tumbling water.
- 3rd Stop: Jökulsárlón Lagoon which is a maze of floating icebergs, a ‘must-see’ You can stand on the edges of the shore, enjoy the mesmerizing view of the dazzling lake or turn your eyes inland to the Diamond Beach, where the black sand beach contrasts with the ice crystals that wash ashore occasionally causing the beach to shine like a diamond.
- 4th Stop: Breathtaking East Fjords, which are deep and long inlets, leading from the sea, former valleys of glaciers.
- 5th Stop: One of the most famous fjord village is in Stödvarfjördur where we stop in Petra´s home. Novices and expert alike can admire a native rock collection which is truly impressive and showcase the formation of Iceland and local geology.
- Dinner and accommodation in the beautiful town of Egilsstaðir in a 3-4* hotel above a gorgeous lake.
DAY 5: JOKULSÁRGLJÚFUR NATIONAL PARK - DETTIFOSS - ÁSBYRGI - HÚSAVÍK
- Buffet breakfast at the hotel.
- 1st Stop: along the ancient scenic Mödrudalur route is at a traditional farmhouse with grassy roofs. There most visitors are lucky enough to see Arctic foxes. We’ll also enjoy a special snack from the farmhouse.
- 2nd Stop: Dettifoss Waterfall, the strongest in all of Europe. Watch as the water rushes to the edge of the cliff in waves and then powers down to the pool below, causes mist to fly into the air.
- 3rd Stop: Ásbyrgi, also known as the Canyon of the Gods, a place where local myths and legends tell stories of elves and ‘hidden people’ who occupy this land.
- 4th Stop: town of Húsavík, the best place to book and set sail for whale watching, with a 97-99% chance of seeing giant mammals while out on your excursion. The town is also lovely and worth a look around. You’ll have time to enjoy an optional whale watching expedition or just relax and enjoy the quaint town, both are excellent choices. And don’t miss out on the local cuisine - fresh fish from the day’s catch or a unique geothermal spa.
- Dinner and accommodation in the area of Húsavík in a beautiful Country Farm hotel 3-4* hotel which is eco friendly.
DAY 6: MÝVATN LAKE - KRAFLA VOLCANO - GODAFOSS - AKUREYRI
- Buffet breakfast at the hotel.
- 1st Stop: within the Mývatn Lake surroundings is the Krafla-Leirhnjúkur Volcano where you can observe the effects of the 1984 eruption.
- 2nd Stop: the grand Vítí crater lake with beautiful views of the blue water that has collected in the crater since its formation in a 1724 eruption.
- 3rd Stop: the geothermal zone of Námafjall, where hundreds of fumaroles spew out steaming hot vapors from the ground beneath, causing even the mud to boil. While eerily beautiful to be hold, please TAKE CARE! The vapors are exciting, and visual effect is impressive, however the geothermal field has to be treated with precaution.
- 4th Stop: time to relax and have lunch in Reykjahlíð where in 1729 an approaching lava flow, which went on to destroy the entire town, spread around the town's church but failed to cause any damage to the church where the local priest and many devote villagers were praying.
- 5th Stop: the enchanted city of Dimmuborgir, or the Black Fortress, known for the strange black lava fields that span in all directions. You can find caverns and unique rock formations made of fossilized lava. View of Hverfjall Crater that spans 1 kilometer in diameter!
- 6th Stop: the Skútustadir pseudocraters (they look like craters but are not the actual location of an eruption) which offer incredible views of bright green grass stopping short of the blue lakes within the craters.
- 7th Stop: the Goðafoss Waterfall, the “Waterfall of the gods”. While not as tall as some of the other waterfalls in Iceland, the width of 30 meters and it’s curved shape make for an impressive flow of water. It actually resembles a small Niagara.
- 8th Stop: Akureyri, the northern capital, located at the base of the Eyjafjörður Fjord, where the charming city has an impressive backdrop of snow-capped mountains. It is also called "The Pearl of the North". With our trip you can enjoy the nightlife of this charming town as our hotel is in the hear of Akureyri where everything is walking distance.
- Dinner and accommodation in the center of Akureyri in a 3-4* hotel.
DAY 7: GLAUMBAER - HRAUNFOSSAR - REYKHOLT - REYKJAVÍK
- Buffet breakfast at the hotel.
- 1st Stop: The historical town of Glaumbær. Here the houses are covered in bright green grass and often called ‘turf cottages’ The entrance to the Glaumbær Folkloric Museum is included, so take advantage of it and take a peek inside the ancient lives of the Icelanders.
- 2nd Stop: Learn of local life while having a short break in the most famous gas station on Iceland for lunch. Yes, even the gas stations in Iceland are interesting and unique!
- 3rd Stop: Deildartunguhver Hot Springs, a hidden gem that competes with Geysir in terms of temperature of water and its sheer power.
- 4th Stop: the Hraunfossar Waterfall, a picturesque series of tumbling cascades over lava rock, stretching nearly a kilometer in distance.
- 5th Stop: the enchanting town of Reykholt, once the home of the most important school in Iceland and one of the most important medieval writers in the world, Snori Sturluson whose contributions to the Norse language and mythology have aided scholars till today. View of Langjökull Glacier which is the second largest ice cap in Iceland.
- 6th Stop: pass through the tunnel of Hvalfjörður. The tunnel is an army constructions which shortened the drive to Reykjavík by 45 kilometers or about 45 minutes, which was as well received by locals as by tourists.
- Returning to Reykjavík we can enjoy a view of Esja mountain, it’s a good time to step back and reflect on all of the wondrous places you’ve witnessed in only a week.
- Farewell dinner for your final night in Reykjavík at the best seafood, fish and meat restaurant in town. It’s a delicious-all-you-can-eat seafood buffet that lets you taste all of the local delicacies. Icelandic glacier water, coffee, tea and dessert are included.
- Night and accommodation in the center of Reykjavík at a 3* hotel in the center next to the amazing church Hallgrímskirkja.
DAY 8: REYKJAVÍK - GUIDED TOUR - PERLAN MUSEUM
- Buffet breakfast at the hotel.
- If you missed out on the first day, then come along for a guided tour of the capital city, Reykjavík.
- Once the guided tour is over (or if you took it once already) here’s your chance to get lost in the beautiful streets and admire the houses and buildings of Reykjavík.
- There is the option to climb aboard the Hop-on-hop-off bus as well. This comes with an audio guide in 10 languages and entrance to the Perlan Museum, where you can see the best views of the city.
- We also highly recommend a trip to the Blue Lagoon, Iceland’s number one attraction. If you want to really treat yourself before heading home, then make a booking to the Blue Lagoon. These geothermal heated waters will soothe your muscles and rejuvenate your skin. We will be happy to book you a ticket (from Comfort to Luxury) and adapt your transfers in order to facilitate visiting the Blue Lagoon and arriving on time for your flight.

Iceland is a beautiful country and while the temperatures in the summer months are quite comfortable, there is always the possibility that it will be cold and wet. Please pack waterproof and warm clothing (preferably not cotton) such as long pants, jackets, hats, gloves and scarfs as well as comfortable walking shoes which have a good grip and, if possible, also waterproof.
