DAY 1: REYKJAVÍK- WATERFALLS - REYNISFJARA - NORTHERN LIGHTS
DAY 2: VATNAYJÖKULL GLACIER - JÖKULSÁRLÓN - DIAMOND BEACH - ICE CAVE
DAY 1: REYKJAVÍK- WATERFALLS - REYNISFJARA - NORTHERN LIGHTS
- Pick-up from your hotel or designated tourist bus stop in Reykjavík (about 9:00-9:30 a.m.) (see more information below about where exactly)
- Head south and then east along the South Coast.
- 1st Stop: Seljalandsfoss Waterfall where your waterproof clothing will come in handy when you walk behind the waterfall to an amazing cave.
- 2nd Stop: Skógafoss Waterfall which offers impressive views of the surrounding area and the volcano Eyjafjallajökull.
- 3rd Stop: Reynisfjara Beach where you can see black sand, basalt columns and rocky sea stacks jutting out of the sea.
- 4th Stop: lunch in Vik, a quaint coastal town, with spectacular views from the Vík í Mýrdal Church.
- 5th Stop: Kirkjubæjarklaustur, a legendary village, steeped with religious and local lore.
- 6th Stop: area around Skaftafell, where you will spend the night. Depending on the time of year and that night’s conditions, you can spend the evening gazing upwards to the heavens, and hopefully will witness the Northern Lights.
DAY 2: VATNAYJÖKULL GLACIER - JÖKULSÁRLÓN - DIAMOND BEACH - ICE CAVE
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- 1st Stop: Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, a true crowd-pleaser. Watch in delight as small icebergs drift by, heading to the ocean. When some of these icebergs come ashore, they make Diamond Beach shimmer and shine against the black sand.
- 2nd Stop: Natural ice cave in Vatnajökull, everyone’s favorite part of the trip. Travel inside Europe’s largest ice cap with an expert guide and see the beauty from within. Fascinating rays of green light penetrate through the dense ice and create an incredible natural spectacle. The atmosphere within is incredible and other-worldly. The photographs within the cave will be an excellent reminder of this amazing experience.
- 3rd Stop: Skaftafell National Park which offers impressive views all around of dramatic mountain peaks and glaciers.
- Heading back to Reykjavík, keep your eyes open for the Northern Lights and if visible, we’ll make a stop to enjoy this magnificent sight.
- Expected arrival time in Reykjavík is about 21:00 (9:00 p.m.)

More information about the 2-day excursion to the South Coast with Ice Cave
Details about the excursion to the ice cave: The excursion to the natural ice cave starts in the Jökulsárlón lagoon, where the path begins until the glacial tongue of the Vatnajökull. There, you will receive the necessary equipment to enter the cave. The caves have to be treated with the utmost respect. Inside the cave of natural ice we will stay about 45 minutes in order to explore it well and enjoy this occasion. It is important to keep warm as temperatures inside the cave are lower than outside. It is essential to follow the instructions of the guide for your own safety.
Note: The ice caves are a natural phenomenon that is constantly changing at all times. The guide will choose the appropriate cave for each excursion, according to the conditions of the moment. During the tour, you will visit a natural ice cave . If, due to weather conditions, the ice cave can not be visited, there will be a trekking on the glacier. During the summer months (April-October) an ice cave is visited on the Mýrdalsjökull glacier since the ice cave on the Vatnajökull glacier is inaccessible.
Accommodation: The rooms reserved are double. In case you travel alone and want to sleep in a single room, it is necessary that, when booking the trip, you choose the option of individual room supplement. If you do not reserve a single room, the client traveling alone will share the room with another person of the same gender.

*The Northern Lights are generally visible in the winter, however even in the winter it cannot be guaranteed.
