MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE GLACIER HELICOPTER TOUR
After taking off from Reykjavík domestic airport and enjoying a scenic flight, you will land on the Þórisjökull glacier and have the fascinating opportunity to discover the fascinating world of ice. The glacier is covered in snow all year round, so even on the hottest days you can feel the cool polar air on your own face. With a bit of luck, you will be able to see the interior of the island, with its striking landscapes, from the top. Afterwards, we will approach the ancient Skjaldbreiður volcano and fly over its craters. On the way back we will pass over the famous Thingvellir National Park, where the first Icelandic parliament Althing was founded in 930. This park is also important from a geological point of view because it is precisely there where the two tectonic plates separate (the Eurasian and the North American), a fact that can be seen very well from the helicopter. At that precise moment you will truly feel between two continents. You can also enjoy beautiful views of the largest lake in Iceland, which is part of the same park. At the end, we will fly over the Esja mountain and the city of Reykjavik to land again at the domestic airport of Reykjavík.
More information: If the weather conditions do not permit for a helicopter flight, the provider will try to change the time and/or day of the flight. If this is not possible, the total payment will be returned. You can also see this other helicopter ride tour above Reykjavik, showing the gorgeous landscapes and coastal views
What should I bring? No matter what time of year you decide to travel to Iceland, it is always important to bring a proper waterproof jacket, warm clothes (waterproof pants like Gore-tex), good waterproof shoes, gloves, light hat, sunglasses and camera.
